Ad of the Day: eerie stop-motion animated film The House comes to Netflix
Billed as a dark comedy, Netflix’s new animated film The House, comprised of three different stories, is a nightmarish and intriguing piece of creative work that will be sure to give you goosebumps.

Produced by Nexus Studios, the team behind the recent Grammy-nominated Billie Eilish concert feature, the film also boasts the vision of four different directors – Emma De Swaef, Marc James Roels, Niki Lindroth von Bahr and Paloma Baeza.
At first glance, the film seems like it could be for kids due to the doll-like quality of the characters. However, as it progresses, we get a sense of the disturbing nature of the storyline. The two-and-a-half-minute ad brilliantly encompasses the different narratives from each chapter and seamlessly introduces the interesting individuals that, at one stage, have all inhabited the house.

Throughout the video, there’s a whole host of familiar voices, from Helena Bonham Carter to Jarvis Cocker to Matthew Goode, which – combined with the detail-rich set – is bound to entice viewers.

The level of craftmanship overall is quite breathtaking, especially considering that each scene would have been painstakingly photographed, resulting in a visual feast for animated film fans.

Bringing the characters to life was the job of Manchester’s puppet masters Mackinnon & Saunders, who have constructed some of the world’s best-known animated figures, from Bob the Builder to Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride and Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr Fox.
The House premiered globally on January 14 only on Netflix.
